Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: August 29, 2026

1. Purpose of the Directory

The Directory has been established to connect service providers and service seekers in the Greater Toronto Area who have a connection to the Akkaraipattu community living in Canada, for the mutual benefit of both parties.

The Directory provides a platform through which users can discover businesses and service providers and access business and contact information provided by those businesses.

The Directory is an information and connection platform only. We are not a party to any transaction, agreement, service arrangement, or other relationship between a service provider and a service seeker.

2. Eligibility and Authorization

To be eligible for inclusion in this Business Directory, the service provider or business must have a connection to the Akkaraipattu community living in Canada.

The person submitting a request to add, modify, or remove a business listing may be:

  • The business owner;
  • A business partner; or
  • An employee or representative of the business who has adequate authority or prior approval from the business owner to make such a request.

By submitting a request, the person confirms that they are authorized to provide or modify the information on behalf of the business. The Directory administrators reserve the right to request clarification or confirmation of authorization where reasonably necessary.

3. Business Listings and Information

Business listings are created using information provided by service providers.

The Directory solely relies on information provided by service providers and makes no independent effort to verify the accuracy, authenticity, completeness, qualifications, licensing, or reliability of the information provided.

Information displayed in a listing may include:

  • Business name;
  • Business telephone number;
  • Business email address;
  • Website;
  • Contact person information;
  • Business description;
  • Portfolio photographs or other images; and
  • Service-related keywords.

The inclusion of information in the Directory does not mean that the information has been independently verified or endorsed by the Directory.

4. Responsibility of Service Providers

Service providers are responsible for the information and materials they submit to the Directory.

Service providers must ensure, to the best of their knowledge, that information submitted:

  • Is accurate and not intentionally misleading;
  • Is appropriate for public display;
  • Does not violate applicable laws;
  • Does not infringe the rights of another person or organization; and
  • Is submitted with any necessary rights or permissions.

Service providers are responsible for informing the Directory when their listing information needs to be corrected, updated, or removed.

5. Updating or Removing Business Information

The Directory does not routinely monitor or independently verify whether business information remains accurate or current.

Business information will generally be updated when the relevant business or an appropriately authorized person requests a change.

Requests to add, modify, or remove a business listing may be subject to reasonable verification of the requester’s authority before any action is taken.

The Directory reserves the right to decline a request where the required authorization cannot reasonably be established.

6. Portfolio Images and Other Submitted Content

Portfolio images and other content submitted by service providers must be suitable for public display.

Submitted content must not contain or promote:

  • Hateful, discriminatory, or threatening material;
  • Excessively offensive material;
  • Unlawful activity;
  • Fraudulent or deceptive content;
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • Nudity, sexually explicit, or indecent material; or
  • Other content that is inappropriate for public display or inconsistent with the purpose of the Directory.

Service providers are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and permissions to submit and publicly display any photographs, logos, or other materials they provide.

The Directory does not routinely pre-screen or independently verify every piece of submitted content. However, the Directory administrators reserve the right to review, refuse, remove, replace, or request changes to content where reasonably necessary.

7. No Endorsement or Verification

The inclusion of a business or service provider in the Directory does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, certification, approval, or guarantee by the Directory or its administrators.

A listing should not be interpreted as confirmation of the quality, qualifications, licensing, reliability, trustworthiness, or performance of the service provider.

8. Transactions Between Service Providers and Service Seekers

Any communication, negotiation, purchase, contract, payment, appointment, service arrangement, or other transaction between a service provider and a service seeker is solely between those parties.

The Directory does not:

  • Negotiate transactions;
  • Collect or process payments on behalf of service providers;
  • Guarantee the delivery or availability of services;
  • Guarantee the quality or suitability of services; or
  • Guarantee the conduct of either party; or
  • Participate in disputes between service providers and service seekers.

Any dispute arising from a transaction or relationship between the parties should be addressed directly between those parties.

9. User Responsibility

Users are encouraged to use the Directory wisely and exercise their own judgment and discretion when selecting or engaging with a service provider.

Users are responsible for making their own informed decisions and taking appropriate steps to verify information before engaging a service provider.

This may include independently verifying:

  • Business identity;
  • Contact information;
  • Pricing;
  • Qualifications or licences where applicable;
  • Availability;
  • Service terms;
  • References; and
  • Any other information relevant to the user’s decision.

10. Acceptable Use

Users must not use the Directory to:

  • Submit false, fraudulent, misleading, or unlawful information;
  • Impersonate another person or organization;
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse another person;
  • Distribute spam or unsolicited promotional material;
  • Upload unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise prohibited content;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website or its systems;
  • Interfere with the operation, availability, or security of the website;
  • Use automated methods to abuse, overload, scrape, or disrupt the Directory; or

12. Third-Party Websites

The Directory may contain links to websites operated by third parties, including websites belonging to listed businesses.

These websites are independent from the Directory. We do not control or assume responsibility for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, products, services, or policies.

Users should review the applicable terms and privacy policies of third-party websites they choose to visit.

13. Intellectual Property and Submitted Content

The Directory’s original design, branding, layout, text, graphics, software, and other original materials are owned by or used with permission by the Directory owner unless otherwise stated.

Business information, photographs, logos, and other materials submitted by service providers remain the responsibility of the provider that submitted them.

By submitting content to the Directory, the provider confirms that they have the necessary rights and permissions to provide that content for publication.

14. Right to Modify or Remove Content

The Directory administrators reserve the right to modify, suspend, restrict, or remove any business listing or submitted content where reasonably necessary, including where the content:

  • Violates these Terms & Conditions;
  • Is inappropriate for public display;
  • Appears misleading or fraudulent;
  • Is outdated;
  • Creates a legal or security concern;
  • Does not meet the eligibility requirements; or
  • Is inconsistent with the purpose of the Directory.

15. Limitation of Responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Directory owner and administrators shall not be responsible for losses, damages, claims, disputes, or other consequences arising from:

  • Reliance on information contained in a business listing;
  • The actions or conduct of a service provider or service seeker;
  • The quality, availability, reliability, or suitability of services offered by a listed business;
  • Transactions or arrangements between users and service providers;
  • Inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading provider-submitted information;
  • Third-party websites or services; or
  • Errors, interruptions, delays, or unavailability of the Directory.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

16. Changes to the Directory

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, discontinue, or change any part of the Directory, including its features, content, search functionality, or availability, at any time.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Directory after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
